SMI’S CONTRIBUTION TO
THE EARTH’S EMISSIONS
This section of the report is a key component
of our broader sustainability strategy, which
includes commitments to achieving net zero
by 2050, and reducing emissions by 45%
by 2030. By continuously monitoring and
managing our carbon footprint, we aim to:
• Enhance operational e昀케ciency.
• Drive innovation in sustainable practices.
• Engage our stakeholders, including
customers, employees, and suppliers, in our
journey toward a low-carbon future.
• Develop targeted strategies to reduce our
environmental impact and align with global
climate goals, such as the Paris Agreement
and the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs).
As the impacts of climate change become
increasingly evident, SMI recognises
its responsibility to measure, manage,
and reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG)
emissions, aligning with our commitment
to environmental sustainability and
transparency. SMI has been measuring the
business’s emissions since 2021, with the
support of ClimatePartner, by following the
guidelines of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG)
Protocol, the globally recognised standard
for carbon accounting and reporting. It
includes emissions categorised across the
three scopes.
Our reporting boundary is based on the
holistic approach driven by ClimatePartner,
covering our head o昀케ce and distribution
centre located in the South East of the UK
and the manufacturing and transportation
of our own brand ROKWEAR from several
countries, including Turkey, Italy, China,
Pakistan, and Bangladesh. The emissions
data presented in this report has been
calculated using primary source activity data
and standardised emission factors. When
primary data is not available, secondary data
from highly credible sources is critical for
ensuring accuracy and reliability in carbon
footprint reporting.

SMI measures all activities annually across
Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions for all operating
locations, publishing this data in the annual
ESG Report. A detailed breakdown of SMI’s
reduction plan will be provided in the 昀椀rst
‘Emissions in Earth Reduction Report,’ set
for release later this year, which will include
the 2024 footprint and a comprehensive
reduction plan for 2025–2030.
