Located just 10 miles from the Kites Croft
Distribution Centre, DP Southampton was the
昀椀rst to use 100% sustainably sourced Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), eliminating
fossil fuels. This shift has cut carbon emissions
by 90% compared to 2021, saving around
14,000 tonnes of carbon, annually equivalent
to removing over 8,000 family cars from the
roads. In 2024, DP World secured long-term
HVO supply contracts for both Southampton
and London Gateway.
DP World is committed to low-carbon
solutions, partnering with green tech
innovators and organisations to decarbonise
the maritime sector. Through collaboration
with the Mærsk McKinney Møller Centre for
Zero Carbon Shipping, they’re advancing
alternative fuels and green corridors. DP
World has also joined the WEF FMC and
signed an MOU with Paci昀椀c International
Lines (PIL), aiming for 5% of marine power to
come from hybrid engines and zero-emission
fuels by 2030. SMI has partnered with DP
World due to shared ESG goals.
