Microloans for solar lamps + water
昀椀lters, Countrywide-India
(supported project 2024)
The project helps rural women in India access funding for
solar lamps and water 昀椀lters to improve their businesses
and homes. Savings from fuel help repay loans, and
women meet in self-help groups to support each other
and promote clean energy. Some also teach others in
nearby villages about the bene昀椀ts of these products.
Each group has a clean energy leader who handles
repairs and after-sales support. Some women also travel
to nearby villages to teach others about the bene昀椀ts of
clean energy, encouraging more women to adopt these
products.

The African continent faces many social, economic,
health, and environmental challenges. The transition
to renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and
hydro is critical for advancing sustainable development,
particularly in addressing climate change and ensuring
universal access to clean and a昀昀ordable energy. Some
areas include Madagascar, Namibia, Egypt, South Africa,
Congo and Mauritius.
