At SMI, we recognise our global responsibility
to create meaningful social value across
every stage of our value chain. As part of our
2030 social strategy, we are expanding our
e昀昀orts to address critical global and local
challenges, focusing on four pillars: enriching
lives, supporting future generations,
promoting biodiversity, and improving
accessibility.

Integrate the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs) into our strategies to create a
meaningful impact and contribute to a
sustainable, equitable future for all.
Stakeholder collaboration:
Work with customers, suppliers and
contractors to amplify our social impact
and drive collection action.
Social value commitments:
• Diversity, equity, and inclusion: Creating
an inclusive environment where everyone
can thrive.
• Living wage: Ensuring fair pay for all
employees and contractors.
• Sta昀昀 training: Equipping employees with
skills to grow and succeed.
• Community investment: Supporting
national and global initiatives for lasting
positive impacts.
• Stakeholder engagement: Collaborating to
enhance social impact.
• Health and safety: Prioritising a safe and
secure work environment.
Volunteer engagement:
SMI employees completed 300 hours of
volunteer work in 2024 to support local
communities and social causes.
Leadership training:
Conduct mandatory quarterly training
for senior leadership and make training
materials accessible to the entire
business.
Global social value mission:
Continue to drive our mission of creating
meaningful social value on a global
scale, focusing on lasting, positive
change.
Targets:
1. Commit to aligning with the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), integrating
them into our strategies to drive meaningful impact,
foster sustainability, and contribute to a more
equitable and prosperous future for all.
2. Collaborate with stakeholders, including NGOs,
governments, and customers, to amplify social
impact.
