SOCIAL
RESPONSIBILITY
At SMI we strive to make a positive difference in our
world, strengthening the relationships we have with
our stakeholders. Concentrating on improving our
ESG performance by recognising the obligation
and moral case we all have in and out of a business
environment to behave in a prosocial way.
We invest in our people through our continuous
efforts to improve quality of life in a social
sustainability context. For example, affordable
housing, physical & mental health, education,
training opportunities, employment opportunities,
and safety and security. SMI recognises the
importance of being ‘People Centric’ and
being ‘Connected’; two key values of our
business. Employees have endless opportunities to
be heard by all levels of the business, through oneon-one meetings with their line managers, all staff
meetings, and our anonymous suggestion box. We
offer reward packages including; our recognition
scheme ‘Employee Champions’. Offering staff the
opportunity to nominate their colleagues, giving
them the chance to spin the wheel. Competitive
pay and a collaborative work environment. SMI
invests in their people offering the opportunity for
progression within their current job role or explore
alternative career paths within the business. In
response to the COVID-19 pandemic, hybrid
work options have been made available to allow
employees balance their professional and
personal needs.
