VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE
PROJECTS, WE HAVE DONE
We aspire to support our community becoming
an integral part of the local and wider areas.
Our portfolio of support includes volunteering,
fundraising, and donating. Focusing on community
engagement, working on projects, and sharing
our skills and time, helping to improve lives and
engage with as many of our people as possible.
This combination offers our people a variety of
opportunities to contribute and benefit from shared
experiences. The Volunteer Committee is comprised
of members across all levels of SMI. With two
ambassadors who take on a more involved role
within the team and our Head of the Committee
our ESG Officer working together to liaise with
charity figures, build networks, and raise social
awareness. Each employee will be given one day’s
paid leave each year to use to attend charitable
events in their local community. We know that many
of our people want to ‘do their part and give back’
whilst having the opportunity to work with new
team members and develop new skills. We aim to
collectively volunteer at least 600 hours per year,
with at least one third of our people participating in
our various projects. Allowing employees across all
levels and departments to work together, improving
employee engagement, and helping to give back to
our key stakeholders. Bridging the gap and building
relations helping SMI to become a valued pillar
within the community.
Throughout 2022 the team at SMI helped support
numerous charities and causes including Cancer
research, Save the Children, Ukraine, Children
in need and LifeHouse. Organising Bake-Off
competitions at our Head Office, Muffet dress down
days, and clothes swap parties. Helping ro raise
donations and awareness for these great causes.
As we continue to support and devote time and
resources giving back to our community in the upand-coming years, we hope to inspire a
world of giving.
