SMI ESG Strategy - Flipbook - Page 20
SMI are devoted to giving back to the community.
Showing our support to local communities through
raising funds and donating our time, products,
and skills. SMI works with RRT a Rapid Relief Team
helping to support homelessness in the UK and
The Grace Trust organisation which helps over
450 charities and organisations involved in nongovernment emergency services and medical
relief, disaster relief, childcare, disability support
and essential medical research. Over 50 pallets
of clothing, houseware products, footwear, food,
drink, cleaning, and sanitizing supplies, first aid kits,
tables, chairs, and cupboards were donated to RRT
and Ukraine in 2022 under the Petworth Ukraine
Sunflower Aid. Working with the local community
and combining all the donations, over 1000 boxes of
aid and £60,000 was raised from the Sunflower Aid.
SMI started working with LifeHouse, a charity
dedicated to supporting the homeless community
in Portsmouth towards the end of 2022 and will
continue to foster this partnership. We have
collected over fifteen boxes of clothing, over X100
20
beanie hats and gloves and over X300 jackets with
additional jumpers, polo shirts and trousers also
provided. Several of these boxes were sourced
from our employees who generously donated and
contributed to our clothes swap parties held at our
Head Office, promoting recycling, and reducing
fast fashion. At Kites Croft our Distribution Centre in
Fareham the team gathered boxes of unbranded,
not fit for sale garments helping to extend our
products life cycle. Using our extensive network of
UK suppliers Orn, Regatta, Leo and Rokwear all
happily supported this cause donating a significant
amount of clothing which was gratefully received
by everyone at LifeHouse. SMI also spread some
festive cheer in the December donating some
more clothing, alongside Christmas gifts our staff
donated as everyone we deserves a present
at Christmas.
