Quality relationships with our suppliers is vital to
ensure that we can continually provide excellent
service to our customers. Engaging with our
suppliers allows us to constantly improve our
supplier experience and have a positive impact on
the communities we operate in. All SMI’s partners
are required to agree to our Supplier Code of
Conduct, which is based on relevant sections
set out in the International Labour Organisation
conventions and the Ethical Trade Initiatives (ETI)
Base Code. These outline the standard working
conditions to be followed by all our partners and
companies in our supply chain, from UK offices
to warehouses and transport providers, down to
factories and manufacturing facilities. Annual
Sedex SMETA audits ensure that we are meeting
industry-leading supply chain management
standards. By endorsing WRAP, STeP and BSCI
accreditation, we maximise transparency and
ethical working practices across our operations. Our
partners who hold memberships or accreditations to
these standards demonstrate a clear commitment

to ethical trade and that they take steps to integrate
ethical trading into their business practices. Periodic
reviews of our suppliers’ accreditation are carried
out, and in this review process, transparency and
collaboration are often keys to the successful
continuance of our partnerships.
