We strive to overcome our largest challenges
including the transportation of our goods. It
is estimated that 80% of goods travel by ship,
making the shipping industry a huge component
in the global economy. The scale of the maritime
industry and carbon levels associated places a
large amount of pressure and challenges to reach
full decarbonisation by 2050. There are more than
200 active projects across the world dedicated to
pursuing carbon neutrality in shipping. The DNV
is aiming for 5% of the energy for shipping to be
provided by carbon neutral fuels by 2030. This
worldwide recognised leading classification society
is focused on helping businesses reach this target
across their operations, facilities, and supply chain.
An understanding of the ocean’s role in climate
change, and the potential it can provide solutions
for climate change is relatively new. Not gaining
any traction until the ‘Blue COP’ held in Chile in
2019. Following the extreme changes in weather
across the world due to climate change, with more
severe and regular storms affecting shipping and
increasing the risk for damaged or lost cargo. The
urgency to turn our attention to the ocean was
highlighted at the COP26 in 2021 where the Ocean
and Climate Dialogue was established within the
UN framework convention on climate change.
Rokwear has worked with Supreme Freight Services
Ltd a leading international shipping and forwarding

and SMI Supreme are adopting sustainable
processes to reduce waste and improve the
businesses carbon footprint. In 2022 they relocated
to a newly designed eco-friendly office; with
motion lighting, rainwater collectors, EV charging
points installed, and systems set in place to reduce
paper consumption. The carriers and hauliers in
Supremes’ fleet are regularly inspected to ensure
they are operating efficiently and sustainably.
Furthermore, the annual listing of the top privately
owned businesses based in the Solent region. Which
is defined as Hampshire (south of Basingstoke),
parts of Dorset, Wiltshire and West Sussex featured
Supreme as the top forty in the Solent 250 listing
which is a huge achievement.
